"Cancel Culture" Eats Its Own

The "Cancel culture" has cancelled Dr. Suess.  Don't believe me?  Check Snopes!   It seems that the "doctor" had drawn racist advertising cartoons for a magazine nearly 100 years ago.  So, for punishment, we will be denied ALL of his works, up to, and including, "The Cat In The Hat".

A link on Snopes details Suess's "history" of racist cartoons.

I am quite surprised that this story got any attention, because Seuss was well known to be a political liberal.  Still more interesting is the quote that Snopes had, decrying "African-Americans in blackface"!  What!?  Are you telling me their faces are normally orange?  What is the normal color of a black person's face then?

That whole "blackface" thing is so idiotic.  I had a close relative who got into some hot water many years ago, for appearing on stage in black face.  Was he making fun of negroes?  No!  He was putting on a minstrel show.  The black face was in homage to the people who originated that genre of entertainment in the first place.  I believe that many of the "black face" scandals that has surfaced in recent years were because of pictures taken out of context.  However, it's difficult to shout down that mob known as "social media", not to mention the lame-stream news media, who sucks up rumors from the former as if they were facts.

Journalism is definitely a lost art.
